Mead 1933-2009West Roane County Volunteer Fire Department is deeply sorrowed by the passing of our dear friend Dr. Charles Grandison

Mead (1933-2009). He passed away peacefully at home on Monday morning, June 22, 2009, at 2:58 AM.In accordance with Charlie's wishes, his body has been sent to the University of Tennessee Forensic Research Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. Research was very important to Charlie.
Charlie Mead was a good friend and neighbor, a tireless volunteer and board chairman, and a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
The family will be receiving friends at the West Roane VFD Station No. 1 at 1303 Pumphouse Road in Rockwood, Tennessee, on Monday, June 29, 2009, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM, followed by a memorial service at 7:30 PM, also at Station No. 1. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Charlie's memory to the WRCVFD at PO Box 417, Rockwood, TN 38754.

Fireworks Sale
June 25 - July 4West Roane County Volunteer Fire Department is holding its "Fireworks Sale," this year in the parking lot of Wal-Mart on Highway 27 in Roane County. The sale will be open all day and all evening
There are for-profit fireworks tents around, but this one is the only one that benefits our West Roane VFD. If you are buying fireworks this year, make sure to get them from the hardworking volunteers in your fire department.

Volunteers are needed to help with setup, the sale, security at night, and with finishing up on July 5. This is a great way to socialize and get to meet your neighbors while giving service too! For more information, call 354-5140 or 354-1500.
